BRIEf dESCRIpTIon <strong>of</strong> ThE oRganIzaTIon<br />
A highly motivated team <strong>of</strong> 8 researchers with a leading pr<strong>of</strong>essor, associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor, senior researchers<br />
and PhD fellows has valuable scientific research experience in the following subjects :<br />
• The role <strong>of</strong> the environmental factors in the development <strong>of</strong> children morbidity;<br />
• Estimations <strong>of</strong> incidences <strong>of</strong> allergic diseases in children <strong>from</strong> <strong>Moldova</strong>;<br />
• The impact <strong>of</strong> genetic and environmental factors on the onset <strong>of</strong> atopic diseases in children <strong>from</strong><br />
<strong>Moldova</strong> • (e.g. Candidate gene typing, analysis <strong>of</strong> the genetic expression pr<strong>of</strong>ile, study <strong>of</strong> immune<br />
mediators and genes <strong>of</strong> interleukins).<br />
The research group is very motivated and open for collaboration.<br />

The experience <strong>from</strong> clinical and epidemiological studies represents an important background for the<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> research findings on the genetic predisposition <strong>of</strong> atopy and other multifactorial<br />
diseases. The department has the necessary equipment for the functional evaluation and the<br />
immunological assessments <strong>of</strong> patients.<br />
InTERnaTIonal CoopERaTIon ExpERIEnCE<br />
• An evaluation on the role that genetic and environmental factors play in pathogenesis <strong>of</strong> multifactorial<br />
disease in children, performed with the collaboration <strong>of</strong> a research team <strong>from</strong> the Laboratory <strong>of</strong> Prenatal<br />
Diagnostics and Inherited Diseases (Otto Institute Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Russian Academy <strong>of</strong><br />
Medical Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia.<br />
• Ongoing project that foresees the implementation <strong>of</strong> a new method <strong>of</strong> providing informing to parents-<br />
“The Child Health Handbook”. The book aims to increase the interaction between families with<br />
children and the medical workers in order to improve the health care and medical assistance system<br />
for children. This work is being coordinated and supported by the International Committee on MCH<br />
Handbook (Japan), the UNICEF regional <strong>of</strong>fice in <strong>Moldova</strong>, and the Swiss Agency for Development<br />
and Cooperation in <strong>Moldova</strong>.<br />
