BRIEf dESCRIpTIon <strong>of</strong> ThE oRganIzaTIon<br />

The Institute <strong>of</strong> Economy, Finance and Statistics (IEFS) is an organization <strong>from</strong> the science and<br />

innovation field, created as a result <strong>of</strong> merging the Institute <strong>of</strong> Economic <strong>Research</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Academy <strong>of</strong><br />

Science <strong>of</strong> <strong>Moldova</strong> and the National Institute <strong>of</strong> Economy and Information <strong>of</strong> the Ministry <strong>of</strong> Economy<br />

and Trade. Within IEFS there are five working services and 6 departments : “Policies and mechanisms <strong>of</strong><br />

economic growth”; “Agro-food economics and rural development”; “ Financial and monetary policies”;<br />

“Social-economic statistics”; “Policies <strong>of</strong> social development “; “Analytical and informational studies”. At<br />

the moment, the Institute employs 105 persons.<br />

• The set <strong>of</strong> the indices for monitoring and the evaluation <strong>of</strong> demographic security was elaborated and<br />

scientifically argued, included into the National Strategy <strong>of</strong> Demographic Security in <strong>Moldova</strong>;<br />

• The mechanism <strong>of</strong> determination <strong>of</strong> allowable values for key demographic security indicators on the<br />

basis <strong>of</strong> modelling the existing indicators;<br />

• The six linear multifactorial models <strong>of</strong> the key demographic security indicators.<br />

• The type-model <strong>of</strong> the passport, the integral territorial index’s model <strong>of</strong> the demographic security .<br />

• Participation in the sub-regional UNIFEM Programme on Gender-sensitive budgeting in <strong>Moldova</strong>.<br />
