The main topics <strong>of</strong> research that is being carried out concerns political, socioeconomic and media issues :<br />

i.e. Social-demographic aspects such as - the dynamics <strong>of</strong> population structure and population projections; natality<br />

and family formation; long-term mortality trends by cause <strong>of</strong> death; migration and various social problems.<br />

The researchers <strong>of</strong> the Institute are members <strong>of</strong> the National Commission for Population and Development within<br />

the Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>Moldova</strong>; they are involved in the activities <strong>of</strong> the UN Population Fund in <strong>Moldova</strong>; participated<br />

in the elaboration <strong>of</strong> the Green Book on Population in <strong>Moldova</strong>, population projections and collaborated in projects<br />

with the World Bank, USAID and FISM.<br />

The researchers are experts in projects on Election Process Insurance, Information organized by the Association <strong>of</strong><br />

Election Officials <strong>from</strong> Europe.<br />

InTERnaTIonal CoopERaTIon ExpERIEnCE<br />

Bilateral projects with scientific centres <strong>from</strong> Italy, Spain, Romania, Russia and Ukraine were developed:<br />

and Social Investigations, Academy <strong>of</strong> Sciences <strong>of</strong> Ukraine (2010-2011);<br />

• “Long-term mortality trends by cause in <strong>Moldova</strong> since 1965”. - Institute National d`Etudes<br />

Demographiques, Paris (2006);<br />

• Optimization <strong>of</strong> transformation processes in <strong>Moldova</strong> (post-Soviet period) Humanitarian Scientific<br />

Fund, Russian Federation (2006-2008);<br />

• Advanced technologies for sustainable development in the structure <strong>of</strong> innovative schemes in the<br />

Republic <strong>of</strong> Belarus and <strong>Moldova</strong> : consistency problem <strong>of</strong> noospherical values. Fundamental <strong>Research</strong><br />
