The main topics of research that is being carried out concerns political, socioeconomic and media issues :
i.e. Social-demographic aspects such as - the dynamics of population structure and population projections; natality
and family formation; long-term mortality trends by cause of death; migration and various social problems.

The researchers of the Institute are members of the National Commission for Population and Development within
the Government of Moldova; they are involved in the activities of the UN Population Fund in Moldova; participated
in the elaboration of the Green Book on Population in Moldova, population projections and collaborated in projects
with the World Bank, USAID and FISM.
The researchers are experts in projects on Election Process Insurance, Information organized by the Association of
Election Officials from Europe.

Bilateral projects with scientific centres from Italy, Spain, Romania, Russia and Ukraine were developed:

• Optimization of transformation processes in Moldova (post-Soviet period) Humanitarian Scientific
Fund, Russian Federation (2006-2008);
• Advanced technologies for sustainable development in the structure of innovative schemes in the
Republic of Belarus and Moldova : consistency problem of noospherical values. Fundamental Research
Fund, Belarus (2008-2009);
• Functionality and impact of NGOs in Ukraine and Moldova on the factors of decision. Ministry of
