BRIEf dESCRIpTIon <strong>of</strong> ThE oRganIzaTIon<br />
The Information Society Development Institute (IDSI) is a state enterprise. The main scientific direction<br />
is the development <strong>of</strong> information society platforms in <strong>Moldova</strong> and the assurance <strong>of</strong> scientific support<br />
for integration in the European <strong>Research</strong> and Information Area.<br />
IDSI aims to provide scientific and technological support in the ICT sphere in order to enforce research<br />
within the information society, empower technological transfers and capitalize on research results.<br />
Among the priorities <strong>of</strong> IDSI activities : the promotion <strong>of</strong> proactive policies, solutions and research in<br />
ICT on order to strengthen and develop the information society and partnerships between science and<br />
industry; collaboration with international bodies, science academies and similar institutes <strong>from</strong> other<br />
countries.<br />

IDSI is involved in the elaboration <strong>of</strong> diagnosis and prognosis studies regarding the ICT area development.<br />
It acts as an integrator <strong>of</strong> solutions, hardware and s<strong>of</strong>tware components. In 2009 IDSI implemented the<br />
Quality Management System (nr.AJAEU/09/11667 <strong>of</strong> 10.08.2009).<br />
IDSI is the institution responsible for the development <strong>of</strong> information systems and e-Infrastructures<br />
for science and innovation organisations <strong>of</strong> <strong>Moldova</strong>. The ACADEMICA network was established and<br />
administered by IDSI : it interconnects 27 research institutions and universities, and support institutions<br />
<strong>of</strong> the ASM (Centre <strong>of</strong> International Projects, The Central Scientific Library) and is continually<br />
increasing the number <strong>of</strong> its members.<br />
InTERnaTIonal CoopERaTIon ExpERIEnCE<br />
IDSI hosts the National Contact Point <strong>of</strong> the EC FP7 for ICT.<br />
The CISCO Academy, IDSI is a component <strong>of</strong> the innovative training initiative Cisco <strong>Net</strong>working Academy.<br />
International projects :<br />
1) 2 FP7 projects : SEERA-EI South East European Area for e-Infrastructures and EXTEND - Extending ICT research<br />
cooperation between the European Union, Eastern Europe and Southern Caucasus.<br />
2) STCU project “Creation <strong>of</strong> unique information environment in GUAM community for remote training and<br />
technical and scientific co-operation”.
