4. <strong>School</strong> personnel will attempt to contact the parent the day restraint occurs and written<br />

notification of the use of restraint must be placed in the school mail or otherwise provided<br />

to the parent within one school day (24 hours) of the use of restraint.<br />

5. Any person called upon to use restraint must have previously had Texas Behavior Support<br />

Initiative (TBSI) and have had Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training each year or<br />

receive all of the training (TBSI) and/or NCI) within 30 school days of restraining a student<br />

with disabilities.<br />

IV. EDUCATIONAL ALTERNATIVES – INTERVENTIONS<br />

Possible educational opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following:<br />

A. Remedial classes<br />

B. Title I<br />

C. Bilingual education<br />

D. English as a second language<br />

E. Vocational program option<br />

F. Regular education counseling<br />

G. Modification of instructional program such as:<br />

1. Subject placement, level or series<br />

2. Class and/or teacher changes<br />

3. Grade placement changes<br />

V. LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER<br />

The resources and services of the Library Media Center (LMC) are readily accessible to all district library<br />

patrons (students, teachers, and parents).<br />

A. The LMC houses a variety of print materials including:<br />

1. Fiction and nonfiction books<br />

2. Standard reference books, such as encyclopedias, almanacs, atlases, and other sources of<br />

information.<br />

3. Periodical literature consisting of magazines and newspapers.<br />

B. The LMC maintains an audio-visual collection consisting of:<br />

1. Videotapes, CDs, DVDs, book and audiocassette kits.<br />

2. Equipment such as overheads, cassette players, CD players, DVD players, listening centers<br />

with earphones, televisions, videocassette recorders, cameras, computers, printers, data<br />

projectors.<br />

C. The LMC provides numerous online resources to meet the information needs of library patrons<br />

including reference databases, ebooks, and audio books.<br />

D. All library patrons, including teachers, are responsible for replacing lost or damaged library<br />

materials. This involves reimbursing the district for the replacement cost of the item.<br />

E. The Library Media Center provides educational opportunities for whole classes, small groups, and<br />

individual students. Included are:<br />

1. Reference assistance, as needed, for individuals.<br />

2. Reading guidance, as needed, for individuals.<br />

3. Assistance with all types of audio-visual equipment.<br />

4. Whole and small group instruction.<br />
