Administrators have the responsibility to:<br />

a. Ensure an effective instructional program for all students under their jurisdiction<br />

b. Develop guidelines for student discipline<br />

c. Attempt to solve school-related problems or conflicts of students, staff and parents<br />

d. Develop and maintain a plan to provide for the safety and welfare of both students and faculty<br />

e. Develop and maintain communication and rapport with students and staff to ensure a cooperative working<br />

relationship<br />

f. Develop a plan which results in the notification of parents regarding student progress in achievement and/or<br />

behavior<br />

g. Assume responsibility and instructional leadership for discipline and for evaluation of the discipline<br />

management plan<br />

h. Exhibit an attitude of respect toward students, parents and citizens<br />

i. Promote effective training and discipline based upon fair and impartial treatment of all students<br />

j. Provide appropriate support for teachers in dealing with student discipline problems sent to the office<br />

k. Encourage parent communication with the school, including participation in required parent conferences<br />

l. Serve as an appropriate role model for the students in accordance with the standards of the profession<br />

m. Adhere to the procedures set forth in district policies and this plan<br />

*For the purposes of this document, the term "parent" is used to designate a natural or adoptive parent, guardian, or a<br />

person legally acting in a parental relationship to a child, or a surrogate parent who has been appointed by the district<br />

to act on behalf of a child in accordance to Public Law 94-142.<br />

<strong>Teacher</strong>s have the responsibility to:<br />

a. Prepare and implement lesson plans and learning activities which provide an effective educational program<br />

for each student<br />

b. Maintain an orderly classroom atmosphere conducive to learning<br />

c. Deal with discipline problems reasonably and without provocation<br />

d. Notify parents of their child's progress and any significant changes in achievement and/or behavior<br />

e. Be knowledgeable about the campus discipline framework and implement the plan within classrooms, halls,<br />

cafeteria and grounds<br />

f. Be in regular attendance and on time, and be prepared to perform their duties with appropriate working<br />

materials<br />

g. Develop classroom management skills through:<br />

(1) Advanced Academic Training (AAT)<br />

(2) In-service compensatory activities<br />

(3) Local in-service<br />

h. Teach students to strive toward self-discipline<br />

i. Serve as appropriate role models for their students, in accordance with the standards of the teaching<br />

profession<br />

j. Comply with district and school policies, rules, regulations and directives<br />

The parents or guardians have the responsibility to:<br />

a. Establish and maintain in the home a positive attitude toward education<br />

b. Show an active interest in their child's school work, conduct and progress through regular communication<br />

with the school<br />

c. Bring to the attention of school authorities any problem/condition which affects their child<br />

d. Keep their child out of school when their child is obviously ill<br />

e. Provide their child with the necessary resources needed to complete classroom assignments<br />

f. Ensure that their child is appropriately dressed at school and at school sponsored activities<br />

g. Discuss report cards and work assignments with their child<br />

h. Confer with the teacher if their child receives an "F" in any academic subject or an unsatisfactory conduct<br />

grade<br />

i. Provide an appropriate place and time for study in the home<br />

j. Encourage proper study habits at home<br />
