character of <strong>Ku</strong>-<strong>ring</strong>-<strong>gai</strong>.<br />
2 To provide landscaping<br />
that is appropriate to the<br />
scale and context of the<br />
development.<br />
3 To promote landscaping<br />
that minimises water use.<br />
4 To provide amenity for the<br />
users of the site.<br />
5 To provide shading to car<br />
park areas.<br />
6 To provide landscaping<br />
that provides habitat for<br />
indigenous plants and<br />
animals and contributes<br />
to the biodiversity of the<br />
area.<br />
1 Where street setbacks are provided, 85% of the street setback area,<br />
excluding driveway, is to be deep soil landscaping.<br />
2 Where landscaping is provided along the street alignment, a physical<br />
edge, such as a planter box wall, must be no higher than 1m from<br />
the finished level of adjacent public pathways.<br />
3 Side and rear setbacks are to provide tree and shrub planting for<br />
screening and shading, and to contribute to the garden character of<br />
<strong>Ku</strong>-<strong>ring</strong>-<strong>gai</strong>.<br />
4 Where possible, natural ground level is to be retained throughout<br />
side and rear setbacks.<br />
5 At least 50% of all tree planting are to be locally occur<strong>ring</strong> trees, and<br />
be spread around the site.<br />
