parking in a way that<br />

protects streetscape and<br />

parking and ensure it<br />

is incorporated into the<br />

landscape design of the<br />

development site.<br />

outdoor car park areas<br />

through the use of<br />

landscaping.<br />

Car parking design<br />

1 All car parking areas must be provided within the basement of<br />

development where practicable.<br />

2 Basement car parking areas must be consolidated under building<br />

footprints to maximise landscaping area,.<br />

Note: Basements may be permitted to extend under the space between<br />

buildings on the same site.<br />

3 The basement car park must not project more than 1m above<br />

existing ground level to the floor level of the storey immediately<br />

above. See Figure 7.8-1.<br />

4 Above ground multi-storey car parking above ground level may<br />

be permitted where it is housed within the building and concealed<br />

behind office or other active uses, so that the parking structure is not<br />

visible from the street or adjacent properties. Refer to Figure 7.8-2<br />

and 7.8-2.<br />

5 Multi-storey car parks must have a minimum finished floor to ceiling<br />

height of 3.5m at ground or entry level, and 3.0m on any other above<br />

ground level to enable flexibility for change in use. See Figure 7.8-3.<br />

6 Car parking layout, circulation roadways and ramps must comply<br />

with the provisions of AS2890.1.<br />
