8.2 HERITAGE CONSERVATION<br />
This section applies to any development that is:<br />
i) a Heritage Item;<br />
ii) in the vicinity of a Heritage Item.<br />
For any development within the above categories, a pre-DA meeting is<br />
required prior to the lodgement of a DA.<br />
For any works within the above categories, a heritage impact statement<br />
is required and a conservation management plan may be required.<br />
Heritage impact statements and conservation management plans must be<br />
completed by a qualifi ed heritage consultant.<br />
Applicants are advised to refer to:<br />
i) <strong>Council</strong>’s DA Guide;<br />
ii) the Burra Charter: the Australia ICOMOS Charter for Places of<br />
Cultural Significance 1999;<br />
iii) The Heritage Branch’s website. (www.heritage.nsw.gov.au)<br />
The heritage controls in the this DCP aim to:<br />
i) Retain and enhance Heritage Items<br />
ii) Ensure alterations and extensions to existing heritage buildings<br />
respect those buildings and do not compromise the significance<br />
and character of the individual Heritage Item; and<br />
iii) Ensure new development in the vicinity of the Heritage Item<br />
respects the heritage context and is sympathetic in terms of<br />
form, scale, character, bulk, orientation, setback, colours and<br />
textures and does not mimic or adversely affect the significance<br />
of Heritage Item and their settings.<br />
