1.1 PRELIMINARY<br />

1.1.1 Purpose of this DCP<br />
This DCP has been prepared in accordance with Section 74C of the<br />
Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Part 3 of the<br />
Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000. The DCP<br />
provides more detailed provisions with respect to development to achieve<br />
the stated aims and purpose of KLEP 219 (<strong>Pymble</strong> <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Park</strong>).<br />
Under Section 79C of the Act, the consent authority is required to take<br />
into consideration the relevant provisions of this DCP in determining an<br />
application for development in the <strong>Pymble</strong> <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Park</strong>.<br />
1.1.2 Name of this DCP<br />
This Development Control Plan (DCP) is the <strong>Pymble</strong> <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Park</strong> DCP<br />
2012.<br />
1.1.3 Commencement Date<br />
This Development Control Plan was adopted by <strong>Council</strong> on xxx and came<br />
into effect on xxx. It is subject to amendments, which are listed in the<br />
Schedule of Amendments at the end of Section 1A.9.<br />
1.1.4 Land affected by this DCP<br />
This Development Control Plan applies to all land to which KLEP 219<br />
(<strong>Pymble</strong> <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Park</strong>) 2012 applies.<br />
1.1.5 General aims of the DCP<br />
The general aims of this DCP are as follows:<br />
i) Establish a future character for <strong>Ku</strong>-<strong>ring</strong>-<strong>gai</strong>’s <strong>Pymble</strong> <strong>Business</strong><br />
<strong>Park</strong><br />
ii) Provide high quality streets and public domain<br />
iii) Encourage the provision of a range of building types which<br />
provide for diversity of employment opportunities, access to<br />
services and other activities that contribute to a sustainable<br />
vibrant business community.<br />
iv) Ensure high quality sustainable urban design and architectural<br />
design of buildings<br />
v) Ensure buildings have a good relationship with neighbou<strong>ring</strong><br />
developments, the public domain and landscape qualities of the<br />
locality.<br />
vi) Recognise the heritage significance of heritage items and ensure<br />
their setting is recognised in future development.<br />
vii) Promote the principles of ecologically sustainable development<br />
including water sensitive urban design, climate responsive<br />
building design, energy efficiency, and selection/use of building<br />
materials.<br />
