0200 - Day Treatment<br />

(Licensed Program)<br />

Day treatment services for children and adolescents provide <strong>in</strong>tensive, non-residential services.<br />

The programs are characterized by a blend <strong>of</strong> mental health and education services provided <strong>in</strong><br />

a fully <strong>in</strong>tegrated program. Typically, these programs <strong>in</strong>clude education <strong>in</strong> small classes with an<br />

emphasis on <strong>in</strong>dividualized <strong>in</strong>struction, <strong>in</strong>dividual and group counsel<strong>in</strong>g, family services such as<br />

family counsel<strong>in</strong>g, crisis <strong>in</strong>tervention, <strong>in</strong>terpersonal skill development and behavior modification.<br />

Children and adolescents receiv<strong>in</strong>g day treatment services live at home or <strong>in</strong> the community but<br />

are identified by their school district as seriously emotionally disturbed and cannot be<br />

ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> regular classrooms.<br />

Units <strong>of</strong> Service:<br />

• Brief Day Treatment: One to three hours.<br />

• Half-day visit: Three but less than five hours.<br />

• Full day visit: Five hours or over.<br />

• Collateral visit: At least 30 m<strong>in</strong>utes.<br />

• Home visit: At least 30 m<strong>in</strong>utes.<br />

• Crisis-visit: At least 30 m<strong>in</strong>utes.<br />

• Pre-Admission full-day visit: At least five hours.<br />

• Pre-Admission half day visit: At least three hours but less than five hours.<br />

Total Units <strong>of</strong> Service: Add weighted visits by category to calculate a total.<br />

0320 - On-site Rehabilitation<br />

(Non-Licensed Program)<br />

The objective is to assist <strong>in</strong>dividuals disabled by mental illness who live <strong>in</strong> adult congregate care<br />

sett<strong>in</strong>gs, supervised or supported liv<strong>in</strong>g arrangements to achieve their treatment and community<br />

liv<strong>in</strong>g rehabilitation goals. Services <strong>in</strong>clude one or a comb<strong>in</strong>ation <strong>of</strong>: (1) consumer self-help and<br />

support <strong>in</strong>terventions: (2) community liv<strong>in</strong>g; (3) academic and/or social leisure time rehabilitation<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and support services. These services are typically provided either at the residential<br />

location <strong>of</strong> the resident or <strong>in</strong> the natural or provider-operated community sett<strong>in</strong>gs which are<br />

<strong>in</strong>tegral to the life <strong>of</strong> the residents. These on-site rehabilitation services are provided by a team<br />

that is either located at the residential site or which functions as a mobile rehabilitation team<br />

travel<strong>in</strong>g from site to site.<br />

Units <strong>of</strong> Service:<br />

• Brief Day Visit: less than 3 hours.<br />

• Half-day visit: 3 but less than 5 hours.<br />

• Full-day visit: 5 hours or more.<br />

Total Units <strong>of</strong> Service: Add weighted visits by category to calculate a total.
