Printheads in Idle Periods Printheads in Idle Periods If print station maintenance procedures or repairing a web lasts more than approximately 10 minutes, the printheads must be moved to the capped position. Moving the printheads to the capped position prevents them from drying out and increases the life of the printheads. ! WARNING If the printheads have been idle for 10 minutes above the web, they will automatically purge, wipe, and clean the plates. Then, after 15 minutes, they will automatically cap. If work is done near the printheads, this can cause serious injury to personnel. To cap the printheads for idle periods, in the PSI Purge Control screen, select Cap. Print Job Operations Aligning the Line Hole Sensor to the Top of the Document Print Job Operations An operator uses the operations that follow to start printing a job. Aligning the Line Hole Sensor to the Top of the Document When the paper is run thro<strong>ug</strong>h the tractor-feed holes, a line hole sensor on the print tower GS is used to synchronize paper alignment with the controller. Note: Initial setup and sensitivity adjustment of the line hose sensor is in “Setting Up the Line Hole Sensor” on page 250. Note: Do not have the line hole sensor (connector X202) and the cue sensor (connector X201) connected to the bulkhead signal panel at the same time. The line hole sensor can be loaded down by the cue sensor. The line hole sensor is connected by a cable to the line hole sensor amplifier, which is attached to the OS wall of the print tower, behind a drop-down door (Figure 81).
