Print Station and Printhead Messages
Controller Messages
When errors occur in the print station, controller, or print job, full
information is available at the controller. To find the corrective actions
needed for each warning or error, access the online help for each
message when it displays.
The printer message log records all operator messages and prompts as
they occur. You can view this log in the Message History screen or in the
messages dialog box in the Print, Transport Setup, and Shutdown System
screens. Print station and printhead messages also appear in the PSI.
Print Station and Printhead Messages
Most messages about the print stations and printheads appear in the PSI
screen. Two locations in the screen display active messages: the
summary screen and the additional printhead information dialog box.
More than one error and/or warning can be issued at the same time. Any
active messages will alternate in the display.
You can clear print station and printhead errors and warnings by selecting
[Err Ack]. Messages that are common to printheads A and B for the same
print station are cleared simultaneously. Some messages cannot be
cleared until you have done an action to correct the problem.
Printing System Messages
All messages not about print stations or printheads appear only in the
Message History screen or in the messages dialog box in the Print,
Transport Setup, and Shutdown System screens. A message symbol
([error], [warning], [software error], or [information]) appears on the icon
for the component for which a message has been generated, as in the
example shown at left, which indicates a warning message for a dryer
component. Select the component icon to read the message in the
message dialog box.
Printing Machinery Messages
The system controller screens are the primary location for the status of
the printing system. The controller also provides error information for
modules in the system. However, the controller displays only minimal
information for problems in the unwind unit, print towers, still picture unit,
sheeter unit, folder unit, or rewind unit.
When errors occur in the unwind unit, print towers, still picture unit,
sheeter unit, folder unit, or rewind unit, the printing system does not allow
some operations. The controller indicates the unit that has detected a
problem on the Application Messages window and the Print window.
The operator display helps identify what caused the error.
