Removing the Printhead
! WARNING
Use care when you work around a PIC box with the covers removed to
avoid contact with dangerous voltages and rotating parts. Failure to use
proper safety precautions can result in injury.
f. Lift the top cover up and off the PIC box assembly and set aside.
g. If the top cover is to be left off for a lengthy period, reinstall the
screw in the PIC box assembly frame.
h. Remove the rear cover as follows.
1 Remove the four screws and upper rear cover from the PIC
box.
Note: The lower rear cover has slots that fit over retaining pins. It can be
removed without loosening the fasteners.
2 Remove the lower rear cover from the PIC box.
i. If the VL2000 printing system is going to be test operated,
proceed as follows.
1 Push the printheads to the print position and tighten the latch
knob to secure the printhead carriage in place.
2 Refer to step 16 to disable the timers.
14. Move the rails back over the PWC immediately after removal of the
printhead and tighten lock.
15. Disable the timers.
a. Select PSI Printhead 1A or Printhead 1B.
b. Select Diag Miscellaneous.
c. Select Enter Diag.
d. In the System Global Settings block unselect Enable PH State
Timers.
e. Select PSI.
Note: The Print Head Timers Disable button will flashing yellow and orange.
16. Place absorbent pads on the base of the PIC box.
17. Disconnect the fluid lines from the PIC box to the printhead coupler
end quick disconnect fittings (16 places).
18. Install the fluid caps on the printhead fluid connectors (16 places).
19. Make sure to disengage the four latches (Figure 108).
