Removing the Printhead<br />

! WARNING<br />

Use care when you work around a PIC box with the covers removed to<br />

avoid contact with dangerous voltages and rotating parts. Failure to use<br />

proper safety precautions can result in injury.<br />

f. Lift the top cover up and off the PIC box assembly and set aside.<br />

g. If the top cover is to be left off for a lengthy period, reinstall the<br />

screw in the PIC box assembly frame.<br />

h. Remove the rear cover as follows.<br />

1 Remove the four screws and upper rear cover from the PIC<br />

box.<br />

Note: The lower rear cover has slots that fit over retaining pins. It can be<br />

removed without loosening the fasteners.<br />

2 Remove the lower rear cover from the PIC box.<br />

i. If the <strong>VL2000</strong> printing system is going to be test operated,<br />

proceed as follows.<br />

1 Push the printheads to the print position and tighten the latch<br />

knob to secure the printhead carriage in place.<br />

2 Refer to step 16 to disable the timers.<br />

14. Move the rails back over the PWC immediately after removal of the<br />

printhead and tighten lock.<br />

15. Disable the timers.<br />

a. Select PSI Printhead 1A or Printhead 1B.<br />

b. Select Diag Miscellaneous.<br />

c. Select Enter Diag.<br />

d. In the System Global Settings block unselect Enable PH State<br />

Timers.<br />

e. Select PSI.<br />

Note: The Print Head Timers Disable button will flashing yellow and orange.<br />

16. Place absorbent pads on the base of the PIC box.<br />

17. Disconnect the fluid lines from the PIC box to the printhead coupler<br />

end quick disconnect fittings (16 places).<br />

18. Install the fluid caps on the printhead fluid connectors (16 places).<br />

19. Make sure to disengage the four latches (Figure 108).<br />
