System Setup of Optional Functions
Setting Up Printing
6. Select Options. Select the print options from the options shown.
a. Enable or disable Position marking. If selected, when data is
being printed outside the selected form, a mark is printed
automatically at the edge of the print area.
b. If you select the Resource caching button, the RIP keeps
resources during the job in order to optimize print speed.
c. If you select the Save resources between jobs button, the RIP
keeps resources that the host flags as capturable. This optimizes
download time for future jobs that may contain the same
resources.
d. If you select the Repeat trace button, the RIP repeats a trace file
that is playing when it reaches the last page in the file. For this to
function correctly, a proper complete trace file must be used.
e. If the Cut Sheet function is enabled for the active form in the Job
Forms screen, then the Cut sheet separation pages setting can
be used to ensure the correct spacing of documents forced to
print in cut sheet (2-up) orientation.
Caution: Incorrect use of the Cut sheet separation pages setting can cause
undesired results.
f. In the Number of pre-image pages box you can give a number
of preliminary pages to be printed before the actual job pages
start printing. Printing these preliminary pages clears the printhead
nozzles.
g. If you select the Jet maintenance pattern button, a 1-dot high
line is printed above each document to keep the printhead
nozzles clear.
h. If necessary, select the 2D Bar code characteristic that allows for
reduced size of each element in the bar code. A selection here
does not reduce the size of the bar code itself. Selecting 0
provides no reduction, 1 reduces the bar code by one dot, 2 by
two dots. Values greater than 2 are not recommended. Use of
reduction can correct dot gain in the printed document.
i. In the Internal overlays group box you can enable or disable the
printing of IPDS internal overlays and give the starting positions
