The research that resulted in this document was part of the “Energy Efficient <strong>and</strong><br />

Af<strong>for</strong>dable Small Commercial <strong>and</strong> Residential Buildings Research Program”, which was<br />

a Public Interest Energy Research Program (PIER) sponsored by the Cali<strong>for</strong>nia Energy<br />

Commission (CEC). We are extremely grateful <strong>for</strong> the funding from the CEC through<br />

PIER. Several organizations <strong>and</strong> people were involved in the project described in this<br />

final report <strong>and</strong> deserve our many thanks. Chris Scruton of the CEC was very<br />

enthusiastic throughout this project <strong>and</strong> provided valuable insight <strong>and</strong> encouragement.<br />

Vern Smith <strong>and</strong> Erin Coats of Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC) provided<br />

excellent overall project management <strong>for</strong> the numerous projects within this large program.<br />

Todd Rossi <strong>and</strong> Doug Dietrich of Field Diagnostic Services, Inc. (FDSI) <strong>and</strong> Lanny Ross<br />

of Newport Design Consultants (NDS) were essential in setting up <strong>and</strong> maintaining the<br />

field sites. Martin Nankin of FDSI provided monitoring equipment at cost <strong>for</strong> this project.<br />

Bob Sundberg of Honeywell, Inc. arranged the donation of Honeywell equipment <strong>and</strong><br />

was an enthusiastic supporter of the research. Adrienne Thomle <strong>and</strong> Bill Bray at<br />

Honeywell, Inc. made sure that equipment was delivered to the field sites <strong>and</strong> provided<br />

replacement equipment <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting when necessary. We also had excellent<br />

support from the organizations that own <strong>and</strong>/or operate buildings at the field sites.<br />
