www.essex.ac.uk/arts | The Arts At our Colchester Campus Square 5 is the arts square on our Colchester Campus, where our Lakeside Theatre and Art Exchange are located, along with our University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art (UECLAA) in our Albert Sloman Library. Lakeside Theatre Promoting some of the country’s leading professional touring companies, our Lakeside Theatre has a reputation for attracting great productions. A well equipped space, our Lakeside Theatre also provides you with a chance to develop your interest in drama. Whether it is as a member of our Theatre Arts Society (TAS) or through working with your department, you have opportunities to act, direct, produce and get involved backstage in student plays and productions. Art Exchange Art Exchange is one of the region’s leading galleries of contemporary visual art. We show the work of internationally renowned artists such as William Kentridge, Fiona Banner, and Jake and Dinos Chapman, while supporting emerging new talent. We work with our lecturers and students to realise exhibitions borne out of teaching and research, particularly those on MA Gallery Studies and Critical Curating, whose work is showcased every summer. University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art Our University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art (UECLAA) is an internationally significant public art collection, based at our Colchester Campus, that actively acquires modern and contemporary art from Latin America. Inaugurated in 1993, UECLAA now holds approximately 750 works by 350 artists. It is fully digitized and available at: www.ueclaa.org, with an associated archive of around 4,500 items. At our Southend Campus Clifftown Studios This former church in Southend’s conservation area has been transformed into rehearsal and performance facilities for our East 15 Acting School students. The nave provides an atmospheric and flexible performance space used for professional and community performances. The diverse programme makes an exciting contribution to campus life.
