MSc Computational Intelligence•
Computational intelligence deals with the
theory, design, application, and development
of biologically, socially and linguistically
motivated computational paradigms.
There is emphasis on genetic algorithms,
evolutionary programming, fuzzy systems,
neural networks, connectionist systems,
and hybrid intelligent systems in which
these paradigms are contained. Our unique
MSc Computational Intelligence covers the
theoretical, applied and practical aspects
of this.
You will focus on linking computational
intelligence techniques to real-world
applications and projects, including
computational intelligence in business
and financial applications, computational
intelligence in games, computational
intelligence in biological sciences and
medicine, and computational intelligence
in industrial control. We recently launched
the Computational Intelligence Centre to
further our existing reputation as a world
class centre of excellence in this subject.
Upon graduation, you will be trained
in computational intelligence and its
applications, which will open employment in:
software companies designing intelligent
software; banks and businesses designing
intelligent prediction and modelling systems
for various processes in their institutions;
computer games companies designing
intelligent adaptive games; pharmaceutical
companies designing intelligent systems
that model the given drug and its various
interactions; and heavy industries (like
oil, steel, chemical and car) designing
intelligent modelling and control systems.
MSc Computer Engineering•
Computer engineering encompasses
the principles, methods, and modern
tools for the design and implementation
of computing systems. Advances in
technology are yielding smaller and
higher-performance computer systems
permeating into a wide range of
applications, from communication systems
to consumer products and common
household appliances. Our MSc Computer
Engineering is the first in the UK and
provides a balanced perspective of both
Staff and their research interests
