the practical aspects of exhibition-making
and curatorship, as well as to issues that
affect and contribute to the formation of
curatorial themes and strategies for both

artworks and artists' interventions.
MA Critical Management and Curating
gives you advanced professional training
that prepares you for careers in fields which
can involve a high level of decision-making
responsibility, demanding independence
and self-motivation, as well as the capacity
for team work and effective management.
MA Curating Contemporary Art•
This course provides you with academic
teaching and professional training in the
area of contemporary art curatorial practice.
You are given the freedom to pursue your
own research interests and to develop your
own practice as curators of contemporary
art. You become familiar with the basic
principles of professional good practice in
museum and gallery work, as well as other
forms of curatorial practice, and acquire
technical competence in applying these.
Graduates are well placed for employment
in specialised museum, gallery, and
freelance curating, as well as a wide
range of other careers.
MA Curating Latin American Art•
This MA offers a unique opportunity for you
to gain a professional training qualification
and undertake academic study in the
areas of museology, curatorial practice,
and Latin American art. We make use of
our University of Essex Collection of Latin
American Art (UECLAA) as a powerful
and rich teaching resource.
You learn about contemporary art curatorial
practice in the context of the study and
exhibition of Latin American art but are
given the freedom to pursue your own
research interests and develop your own
practice as curators of Latin American art.
Graduates are able to pursue careers in
