The extensions of the gTLDs in Table 1 denote that these are unsponsored.
Also, all countries have conventional domain names and their language is the standard
ASCII. In the same manner, while the Web sites of 42 (93%) European countries
project domains which include only letters, the others 3 (7%) include hyphens.
On the other hand, the Web sites of 46 (84%) Asian countries have secure domains
with only letters, whereas 9 (16%) countries possess a hyphen or number. Regarding
the sponsorship structure, European countries have “no sponsored” domain
names, and this is also valid for Asian countries. The Web sites of 9 European
countries (20%) have the domain names with ccTLD, and 36 of European countries
(80%) with gTLD. As for Asian countries, 10 of the countries (18%) have domain
names with ccTLD, and 45 of the countries (82%) have domain names with gTLD.
The Web sites of 24 European countries (68%) have the domains with .com
type. And also, there are 7 countries (19%) with .org extension. As for Asian countries,
33 countries (73%) have domains with .com and 9 (20%) have .org extensions.
However, all countries, both European and Asian, have conventional domain
names and their languages are into standard ASCII domain names. The Web sites of
42 European countries (93%) have the domains with only letters, and also there are
3 countries with combined numbers or hyphens and letters. On the other hand Web
sites of 46 Asian countries (84%) have the domains with only letters, and 9 countries
(16%) with combined numbers or hyphens and letters.
Table 2 shows the results of an effectiveness analysis of Web site (URL) domains
providing the tourist information. Results show that the average rating score
is close to 4,0 for those European countries, indicating that the effectiveness of
geodomains is generally good. Compared to the European ratings, however the
ratings of domain names as a whole among Asian countries are significantly lower
