They start as original concepts but are eventually corrupted by newer "truths." From here the once solid valid idea is integrated, discarded or clung to. Ideally more valid truths will be welcome and old ideas will be integrated or discarded. It is the habit of clinging to lesser and out-dated truths that causes conflict in this world. The end state of any given social system is indefinite reformation if it clings to its original ideas, effectively destroying the original value. Sometimes evolution never occurs; good old ideas are discarded too quickly and new good ideas are unable to integrate. While the bottom line and egos are the usual suspects in the degradation phase of evolution, this is taken for granted and beside the point. Most of what exists today as our institutions are merely the modern faces of what was; what is "new" is merely a response to the old and not an original. Like a 50th generation Xerox, when we cling to something that needn't be repeated, the solid image is corrupted and the flaws are integrated – the opposite of ideal. Christianity is the perfect example: the lessons of one man have been splintered into literally hundreds of sects, each convinced it is more valid than the others or original. This is not an opinion; it is fact by virtue of their existence. In regards to the political history of the USA, there has been a similar effect in how many parties have cropped up. Let's assume no one party could suit the needs of all Americans for all time. That’s reasonable, but let’s also assume one party could conceivably be more "right" than all others at any one time. How do we reach a consensus? By what criteria can this ideal party be judged? Who will say, "I don't agree with that party but I know they have an ultimately better effect for me, my grandchildren and the planet as a whole?" Whose fate is the deciding factor governing this moral relativism? Who is asleep in their denial of nature? Who is overzealous about protecting nature? The most basic aspect to this scale invariant pathology of conflict is the natural survival instinct. Greens, a newer party, see the degradation of the biosphere as a threat to their survival and they can point the finger at the blatantly guilty "Republicrats" who all too gladly bend over for industry. The Republicrats are generally comprised of a relatively wealthier and isolated class. Their connection to the earth is absent and so their survival instinct is warped into arms races, tax breaks, and mud slinging. They cannot counter the Green platform except by saying Greens are unprepared to deal with the problems bipartisan dominance has created. It's sad how a common survival instinct manifests as destructive politics. Unfortunately, the Green platform is spread so thin as to be ineffectual.
