Rather than contextualize ID as a conspiracy of the religious right and/or a
pseudoscientific attempt to compromise evolution, maybe ID could stand on its own as a
means of integrating a more esoteric, enlightened monotheism with what science is
learning about complexity. Maybe ID could become, accidentally or appropriately, the
superseding belief structure we're intended to coalesce.
Firstly, let's define a common language. Since we are dealing with the be all, end all
questions, our polarized lexicon fails to convey universally acceptable answers. When
dealing with concepts such as creation, negentropy, self-assembly, chaos, complexity,
biomimicry, scale-invariant self-similarity, Zero Point Energy, etc…any attempt at
integration, even within similar fields, much less the disparate situation here, tends to
sound cranky. This being acknowledged perhaps we can agree that:
1 – Scientific and Religious lexicon isn't mutually exclusive to the truth, only consensus
reality.
2 – Otherwise separate ideas can be found to be synonymous through deductive
reasoning. For example, GOD=G.U.T. (Grand Unified Theory). The concept of "God"
must account for all that science produces if God is to be defined, in part, as "The Creator
of all that is." Likewise, if a G.U.T. can't explain the absurd novelty found in nature,
particularly our biosphere, and if it can't explain all the paranormal phenomena in our
collective experience, then science is just another religion.
3 – An integrated theory will require personal compromise, not conceptual compromise,
as the truth was the truth before we sought it in integrated form.

science and spirit has always depended on language. New metaphors are always being
invented, not for the sake of being metaphors of course, but in their association of
differing systems and their specialized jargon always resolves a little more truth. The
Judeo-Christian Cannon is not at all useful to our task of integration unless one does
away with literalism. The occult meaning of most parables and symbols are in fact
describing metaphysics and physics. The "meta" prefix means that the knowledge
imparted can't necessarily be subject to science although it can be subjectively verified.
When one understands biblical esoterica, the consistency between science and spirit
becomes greater. For example The Mustard Seed Parable is a metaphor for how small,
simple seed conditions can grow into enormous bushy attractors. Like it or not Jesus
perfectly described The Butterfly Effect as it manifests as creation itself. In a text not in
the Bible, Jesus compares the multiverse, his "Kingdom/Mansions," to a tapestry where
one side is a grid and on the other, patterns are woven into the grid. Sounds like Bohm's
