9.16.2 For Windows, with No Service
To start Spotfire Server:
1 Log onto the Spotfire Server machine as an administrator.
2 Start a command prompt.
3 Go to the folder /tomcat/bin
4 Run the startup.bat file.
Response: The Spotfire Server Controller starts.
Comment: The controller will stop running if you close the command prompt or log
out of the machine.
To stop Spotfire Server:
1 Log onto the Spotfire Server machine as an administrator.
2 Start a command prompt.
3 Go to the folder /tomcat/bin
4 Run the shutdown.bat file.
Response: The Spotfire Server Controller stops.
9.16.3 For Solaris, Red Hat, and SUSE with RC script
To start Spotfire Server:
1 Log in as root.
2 Run the command /etc/init.d/tss start. (Refer to the section “For Solaris, Red Hat, and
SUSE” on page 49 for instructions on how to install this script).
Response: The Spotfire Server Controller starts.
To stop Spotfire Server:
1 Log in as root.
2 Run the command /etc/init.d/tss stop. (Refer to the section “For Solaris, Red Hat, and
SUSE” on page 49 for instructions on how to install this script).
Response: The Spotfire Server Controller stops.
