5.4.2 For Windows, with No Service
If you selected not to install a Windows service (see step 9 on page 25) then you must
start the Spotfire Server manually.
1 Log onto the Spotfire Server machine as an administrator.
2 Start a command prompt.
3 Go to the folder /tomcat/bin
4 Run the startup.bat file.
Response: The Spotfire Server Controller starts.
Comment: The controller will stop running if you close the command prompt or log
out of the machine.
5.4.3 For Solaris, Red Hat, and SUSE

To start Spotfire Server on reboot:
After the installation, you may want to configure Spotfire Server to start automatically
each time the Solaris, Red Hat, or SUSE machine is rebooted. This can be set up by
running a script called install_startup_script.sh.
1 Log in as root.
Comment: In order to have a service automatically start at reboot you must be root.
No other user can do this.
2 Navigate to the /tomcat.
3 Execute the file install_startup_script.sh.
Response: The Spotfire Server will start automatically after each machine reboot.
To start the server right now, run the script
/etc/init.d/tss start
Note: The install_startup_script.sh script copies the script tss, also located in
/tomcat, to the /etc/init.d directory and places symbolic
links to this scripts in the appropriate runlevel directories (/etc/rc2.d etc).
