MIGRATING FROM 10.1 TO 3.2?
When you start the Spotfire Configuration Console and connect to the
3.2 database you should verify that the configuration from the Spotfire
Analytics Server 10.1 has been transferred correctly.
Configuring Authentication:
1 In the configuration console, click on the tab Authentication.
2 Click the Edit button.
Most login/user directory configurations will have transferred
completely and will not require any additional setup. However:
• If you have set up external LDAP group synchronization, the list
of groups specified for synchronization will be transferred to the
3.2 server. However, you must enable group synchronization and
set up synchronization schedules for the groups from the
configuration console.
• Kerberos, X.509 Client Certificates, and NTLM authentication
information is not transferred. If you intend to use any of these
authentication methods on the 3.2 server, you need to set this up
again.
3 If prompted to stop all servers, select to do so.
4 Select the login method you wish to use from the Login method drop-down menu.
5 Depending on your choice you will be presented with a number of additional
parameters that you must specify.
For more details on these parameters, please see the configuration console online help
by clicking on the question mark icon in the top right corner.
6 Click the Done button when you are finished.
5.7 Setting up User Directory
The user directory is where the Spotfire system stores user names and group
memberships. This information can later be used to set permissions to different groups
of users. The user directory is stored in the Spotfire database, but to simplify
administration, it is possible to import this information from an external source, such
as an LDAP directory. This is called User Directory Back-end. For a comprehensive
list of user directory backends, and how they can be combined with different
Authentication methods, see the section “Authentication and User Directory” on
page 65.
