Advanced Procedures
Note: These steps should all be performed on the machine that runs the configuration
console. The configuration console will then export these settings to all Spotfire
Servers when they are added to the cluster. You do not need to modify any files on the
Spotfire Server(s).
The steps will first be outlined briefly, and then described in detail below:
1 Create a user account in the Kerberos environment.
2 Create a keytab file for the user account.
3 Create and populate the Spotfire database.
4 Modify the file krb5.conf.
5 Create the file databasekerberos.login.
6 Modify the file java.security.
7 Modify the file connections.xml.
8 Log into the configuration console.
9 Export the Spotfire configuration to file.
10 Modify the Spotfire configuration export file.
11 Import the Spotfire configuration.
12 Add Spotfire Servers to the cluster.
Create a User Account in the Kerberos Environment
Start by creating a user account in the Kerberos environment. See the section “Prepare
the LDAP Server” on page 69 for information about how the user account should be
set up.
Create a Keytab File for the User Account
Use the ktab.exe tool found in the folder /jdk/bin/ to
ktab.exe -k database.keytab -a
Note: Use only the username, not the fully qualified username.
Create and Populate the Spotfire Database
To be able to use the create_databases script, the database engine needs to accept
regular login as well as Kerberos login. If it does not, you cannot use this file. Instead,
you must run the sql-scripts this file calls. See the section “Running Database
Preparation Scripts Manually” on page 102 for more information about this.
Modify the File krb5.conf.
