Developing civically engaged students is an important goal of higher education, although
pedagogy often lacks related assessment on students’ social and emotional well-being. An
AAC&U Bringing Theory to Practice grant helped us to assess honors and non-honors student
development in engaged first-year experience curriculum.

development through common courses, co-curricular programs, and social activities. But where
