3.11 Linear Simplification Techniques 387 3.11 Linear Simplification Techniques A special feature of Analog Insydes is its capability of analyzing large analog circuits symbolically by means of symbolic approximation techniques. Analog Insydes provides two different methods for computing approximated transfer functions, namely a simplification-before-generation (SBG, see function ApproximateMatrixEquation in Section 3.11.3) and a simplification-after-generation method (SAG, see function ApproximateTransferFunction in Section 3.11.2). SBG refers to methods that simplify a circuit analysis problem before a symbolic transfer function is generated from a system of equations or a network graph. SAG algorithms approximate a transfer function by discarding insignificant terms after the exact expression has been computed. Furthermore, this section contains the function ComplexityEstimate (Section 3.11.1) for estimating the number of product terms in a symbolic transfer function, and the function CompressMatrixEquation (Section 3.11.4) for compressing a system of matrix equations. 3.11.1 ComplexityEstimate ComplexityEstimate[dae] ComplexityEstimate[netlist] estimates the number of product terms in the expanded determinant of dae, which must be a system of AC circuit equations in matrix form estimates the complexity of any transfer function calculated from netlist, which must be a flat netlist Command structure of ComplexityEstimate.
