civ MINING LAWS OF PENNSYLVANIA. Off. Doc.or superintendent shall be appointed in like manner and at the sametime as the boards of examiners for candidates for mine inspectorshipunder this act are now appointed. The said board shall act assuch for the period of one year from the date of their appointment.Meetings of the board may be held at any time, and they may makesuch rules and conduct such examinations as in their judgment mayseem proper for the purpose of such examinations. The said boardshall report their action to the Secretary of Internal Affairs, and atleast three (3) of the members thereof shall certify to the qualificationof each candidate who has passed such examination. The travelingexpenses of the members of such board to and from their place ofmeeting, together with the sum of five dollars per day each to thesaid two (2) practical miners and owner, operator or superintendent,members of each board, for each day they are actually engagedtherein, not exceeding ten (10) days in all, during the year, shall bepaid by the Commonwealth on an order of the Auditor Generaldrawn on the State Treasurer upon the certificate of the mine inspector, member of such board.Section 4.Certificates of qualification to mine foreman and assistantmine foreman shall be granted by the Secretary of Internal Affairsto every applicant who may be reported by the examiners, asheretofore provided, as having passed a satisfactory examinationand as having given satisfactory evidence of at least five (5) years'practical experience as a miner, and of good conduct, capability andsobriety. The certificate shall be in manner and form as shall beprescribed by the Secretary of Internal Affairs, and a record of allcertificates* issued shall be kept in the department. Certificates ofqualification and certificate of service shall contain the full name,age and place of birth of the applicant, as also the length and natureof his previous service in or about the mines.Section 5. Before certificate as aforesaid shall be granted applicantsfor same shall pay to the Secretary of Internal Affairs the followingfee, namely:For examination, one dollar; for registration of certificate, one dollar,for certificate, one dollar. All fees so received shall be coveredinto the treasury of the Commonwealth.Section G. No mines shall be operated for a longer period thanthirty days without the supei'vision of a mine foreman.
