Doc.Mitchell Drift.—Idle the entire year.Graceton No. 1 Drift.—Idle the entire year.Graceton No. 2 Drift.—On the evening of May 12th the large coalcrusher and washer at this mine was destroyed by fire. This causedthe mine to lay idle about five months, during which time a newcrusher and washer were jerected.This opening is in the Lower Freeport seam and the product ofthe mine is principally used in the manufacture of coke. A self-actingincline by which t^ie coal is lowered by means of gravity from amain landing in the mine to the outside near the tipple is in operalion.The mine when last inspected was in fairh' good condition,with 2.">,4()() cwbic feet of air per minute in circulation. Mine foreman,James McKechan.Mines on and Near the Southwest Branch of the PennsylvaniaKail road.Greensburg No. 1 Drift.—The condition of this mine was satisfactory'.Quantity of air passing at the inlet when last measured was32,400 cuhrc feet per minute, which was well distributed around theworkings. From 8,000 to 10,800 cubic feet per minute was measuredat and near the face of the different entries. Mine foreman, DavidClarke.Central Slope.—The condition of this mine when last inspectedwas satisfactory. The (luantity of air passing at the inlet was40,760 cubic feet per minute, which was well conveyed to the faceof the. workings. Mine foreman, William I. Morgan.South West No. 1 "A'' and"B" Shafts.—These mines are in excellentcondition, and close attention is given to every detail by those incharge. The tail rope system of haulage is in use.
