This is a new drift opening lo'-ated on the east side ofthe river nearly opposite the borough of Stockdale. It is owned andoperated by the Tide Coal Com])any, of Pittsburg, Pa. The interiorof the mine is not sntticiently advanced for a general description,so I will Icaxe this jiart for a future report. The outside improvements—actualand prospective—consist of a 25-foot Guibalventilating fan, running at pi'osent, diiven by an engine of 100 horsepower. The haulage plant is of the endless rope system, with tractionwheels seven feet in diameter, of five grooves each. The ropeis of steel one and one-eighth inchesi in diameter, driven by a pairof engines capable of dfneloping 200 horse power. The engine andboiler house is of steel set on brick piers, covered with corrugatediron and roofed with slate; size, 30x80 feet. The crusher is of thetwo-process variety with rollers four foet in diameter and four feetlong, with inserted tool steel teeth, each roller containing 824 teethdriven through steel gearing by an engine of 100 horse ]>owor. Theelectric plant is under the same roof as the haulage ])lant; the generatoris of 250 volts, and is driven by a 15]xlG inch engine. Th«^
