Brown.Noticeable among the improvements made by coke companiesthe changing of the haulage arrangementsduring the year <strong>1898</strong>, isat the bottom of the Mammoth Shaft mine, owned and operatedby the H. C. Frick Coke Company. Mr. J. P. K. Miller is the chiefengineer of the above named company, and furnishes the followingexplanation of the changes made:MAMMOTH IMPROVEMENTS.Mammoth Works.—Consist of a slope and shaft operation,withthe accompanying ovens and buildings.
