To get ridof this water, a duplex pump made at the company's shops, havinga SO-ineh cylinder, 12-inch plungers, and 4-foot stroke, with lO-inchtohimn pipe, was placed in the No. 4 slope. The sinking of the No.4 slope overlying the No. 3, No. 5 vein slope, has been continued andis now down to the Ninth lift.The East Brookside No. 4 vein slope has been completed to thelevel of the No. 5 vein slope.Lincoln Colliery.The tunnel connecting the Sixth lift of No. 1 vein slope and theSixth lift of the No. 2 vein slope has been completed, which is 915feet long. A tunnel is being driven from the No. 2 vein to cut theNos. 3, 4 and 5 veins, and is now 400 feet in. A new pair of hoistiugengines made at the company's shops have been placed on theNo. 1 slope to hoist from the Sixth lift, having 24-iiich cylinders, 48-inch srroive, and drum 7 feet 8 inches in diameter, direct acting.Phoenix Park No. 3 Colliery.An additional ventilating fan, 15 feet diameter, with direct actingengine, 14-inch cylinder, 18-inch stroke, has been placed on a newair hole east of the slope, which adds 65,000 cubic feet of air to thevontilating current.Eagle Hill Colliery,The new air shaft has been completed from the surface to theFourth liftI'rimrose vein gangway, the depth being 634^ feet.Glendower Colliery.The tunnel from the Daniel vein 181 feet long to the Buck mountainvein at the top of the No. 2 plane has been completed, and a slopemade from the surface to that level on the Buck Mountain vein. Aroad has been laid along the suiface to haul the coal from the slopeVG the breaker.
