Run<strong>of</strong>f Treatment Control Measure Fact SheetConstructed Wetland BasinLong-Term MaintenanceThe local permitting agencies in the <strong>Sacramento</strong> and South Placer areas will require execution <strong>of</strong> amaintenance agreement or permit with the property owner for projects including a constructed wetlandbasin. Check with the local permitting agency about the timing for execution <strong>of</strong> the agreement. Suchagreements will typically include requirements such as those outlined in Table CWB-3. The propertyowner or his/her designee will be responsible for compliance. See Appendix B for additional informationabout maintenance requirements and sample agreement language.Table CWB-3.Inspection and Maintenance Recommendations for Constructed Wetland BasinsActivityScheduleInspect basin to identify potential problems such as trash and debrisaccumulation, damage from burrowing animals, and sedimentaccumulation.Remove litter and debris from constructed wetland basin area.Stock basin with mosquito fish to enhance natural mosquito and midgecontrol. Contact the local vector control district for assistance.Harvest vegetation for vector control and to maintain open water surfacearea.Remove sediment from forebay and other zones when accumulationreaches 10 percent <strong>of</strong> original design depth or if resuspension isobserved.
