Runoff Treatment Control Measure Fact SheetStormwater PlanterLong-Term MaintenanceThe local permitting agencies in the Sacramento and South Placer areas will require execution of amaintenance agreement or permit with the property owner for projects including a stormwater planter.Check with the local permitting agency about the timing for execution of the agreement. Such agreementswill typically include requirements such as those outlined in Table SP-2. The property owner or his/herdesignee will be responsible for compliance. See Appendix B for additional information aboutmaintenance requirements and sample agreement language.Table SP-2. Inspection and Maintenance Recommendations for Stormwater PlanterActivityTrim vegetation (as applicable) and remove weeds to limitunwanted vegetation.Remove litter and debris from landscape area.Use integrated pest management (IPM) techniques toreduce use of chemical pesticides and herbicides.Inspect the planter to determine if runoff is infiltratingproperly.If infiltration is significantly reduced, remove and replacetopsoil and sand/peat layer.Reconstruct or replace the control measure when it is nolonger functioning properly.ScheduleAs neededAs neededMonitor for pests regularly and take other action asneededAt least twice per year during storm events.
