6.3.3 FILM CONDITIONING<br />
Similar to Section 4.3.3, protein sheets were conditioned for 1 week at 43, 58, and 84%<br />
RH at 25°C before testing.<br />
6.3.4 ME<strong>CH</strong>ANICAL PROPERTIES<br />
Tensile strength (TS), percentage elongation at break (EAB) and elastic modulus (EM)<br />
were measured as described in Section 4.3.4.<br />
6.3.5 MICROSTRUCTURE ANALYSIS<br />
Microstructure analysis <strong>of</strong> SPI films was completed using a scanning electron<br />
microscope as described in Section 4.3.7. Samples equilibrated at 58% relative humidity were<br />
observed to compare effects <strong>of</strong> fiber addition. Cryo-fractured cross sections perpendicular to the<br />
extrusion machine direction were analyzed.<br />
6.3.6 FTIR Analysis<br />
IR spectra <strong>of</strong> soy protein films were obtained as described in Section 4.3.8.<br />
6.3.7 WAXD Analysis<br />
WAXD sampling was carried out as described in Section 5.3.3.<br />
