Itconsolidated its position as theleader in 2009 by maintaining its SIMmarket share at 48% and revenueshare at 57% despite intensecompetition. Dialog has elevated theuser experience to a new dimensionthrough many Sri Lankan firsts andcontinuous investment in technology,deepening its ties with its over 6.4million subscribers.DTI the company’s infrastructure armcontinues to offer state-of-the-artinfrastructure as well as microwavea n d f i b r e o p t i c t r a n s m i s s i o ntechnologies. The Metro ColomboEthernet project, one of DTI’s mostcapital intensive projects will deliverfibre optic cables to all majorlocations in the metropolis, enablingthe company to deliver super fastfibre link coverage that can beleveraged by multiple businesses toprovide consumers with voice, videoconferencing, data and other relatedservices. Corporate consumers canexpect a host of new services as adirect result of the investmentmade.The ongoing Metro project has plansto cover a road network of over150km by the end of 2010, with anadditional 119km covering theColombo and greater Colombo areas.By the end of 2009, nearly 180 kmwas completed under the NationalOptical Fibre Project, delivering fibreoptic connectivity to the Southernand Central Provinces.Dialog Global continued its impressivegrowth from the strong baseestablished in 2008 with internationalbusiness operations continuing top o s t p o s i t i v e r e v e n u e a n dinternational partner growth in itsprimary business lines of InternationalWholesale and International Roaming.Overall, revenues grew by 33% in2009.Having established leadership inGSM roaming with coverage of2 1 1 d e s t i n a t i o n s w o r l d w i d e ,encompassing over 530 networks,the company concentrated onenhancing the breadth and quality ofits GPRS/EDGE, 3G/HSPA, andCAMEL (pre-paid voice roaming)relationships by growing bilateralpartnerships with global carriers by50% during the year.Dialog was the first mobile operatorin the country to extend its GSMnetwork to the newly liberated areasin the Northern Province, expandingcoverage without compromising onquality. With the end of the civil war,Dialog rolled out its network in thenorth in less than 90 days after theliberation, delivering its promise ofconnectivity to its customers.As an initiative in the ongoing costr e s c a l i n g p r o g r a m m e , D i a l o gmodernised its network to a 100%Next Generation Network (NGN)Core Network via migration of allmobile core network elements fromlegacy Time-division multiplexing(TDM) to IP based switching. Dialog’sNGN core network will support theCompany’s rapidly growing subscriberbase in addition to enabling a hostof advanced subscriber features andconvergence opportunities.Dialog, in partnership with AeroMobile, launched the first in-flightcalling service which enablescustomers to safely use their mobilephone on selected flights. Dialog’sInternational roaming customers nowhave access to in-flight connectivitywith 14 international airlines.
