Whilevoice usage remains the keycontributor to postpaid revenue, M1continued to see growth in nonvoiceusage, particularly in the areaof data services. Contribution fromnon-voice services rose from 23.4%in 2008 to 26.0% in 2009, driven bythe growth in mobile broadbandcustomer base.The prepaid base grew by 13.1% in2009. Throughout the year, M1embarked on several promotionalactivities and continued to enhanceits price plans and provide superiorvalue to its prepaid customers.As a result, prepaid market sharerose to 24.9% in 2009, from 24.3%a year earlier.M1 continues to focus on servicedifferentiation by providing worldclass services to its customers, aswell as leading in innovation.Since 2008, M1 has embarked onseveral key initiatives to transformitself from a pure mobile player to afull-service operator. In September2009, M1 strengthened its corporateservice offerings with the acquisitionof a corporate Internet serviceprovider. Subsequently renamed asM1 Connect, the <strong>Group</strong> now offers afull suite of data and communicationsproducts and services to corporateand public sector customers inS i n g a p o r e . F u r t h e r , w i t h t h ecommercial launch of the NextGeneration Nationwide BroadbandNetwork (NGNBN) in 2010, M1 will beable to offer residential and corporatecustomers flexible bundles of fixedand mobile, voice and data services.<strong>Axiata</strong> <strong>Group</strong> <strong>Berhad</strong> • 138
