When the training iscomplete, then the Yogi is really fit to take up the role <strong>of</strong> thehouse-holder by marrying. Along with the enjoyment <strong>of</strong> sex,he invites all his responsibilities whole­heartedly. <strong>The</strong>n only hecan conduct the sex-act also like the other duties with full mastery.<strong>The</strong>n only the enjoyment is pure, deep and unadulterated. Flirts<strong>of</strong> sex cannot understand what he enjoys. Monogamy is imperativeif the enjoyment <strong>of</strong> sex is to be known in its true sense and ifthe purity <strong>of</strong> the race should be kept via the purity <strong>of</strong> individualvehicles. By observing the animals we can know that the sexinstinctshould not be curbed. From the plants we know thatmonogamy keeps up purity. <strong>The</strong>se are the basic truths that rulethe kingdom <strong>of</strong> sex into which the fully evolved Masters <strong>of</strong>human kingdom only can enter. Brahmacharya in the premarritalage is nothing but celibacy practised by keeping the mind engagedin good work which is more tasty and more effective to focusyou towards Ishwara, the Lord-consciousness throughawareness. (<strong>The</strong>re are many details that need explanation aboutthe science <strong>of</strong> sex, but for the present this will be enough).<strong>The</strong> next item to practise is to maintain the attitude <strong>of</strong>harmlessness. Harmless living should be included in your constantawareness. “You should not kill” is the first <strong>of</strong> the tencommandments. “Love thy neighbour as thyself” is the first <strong>of</strong>the sermon on the mount. <strong>Patanjali</strong> includes this as an inevitableitem to achieve the first step <strong>of</strong> <strong>Yoga</strong>. Practically speaking weshould not kill except to eat. If it is possible, you should not killeven to eat. We are expected to practise <strong>Yoga</strong> not in cities, butin small villages amidst forests, hills and water springs, wheretrees bear fruit and <strong>of</strong>fer the fruit to you, the streams give waterand you can live and eat without killing, You can take the milkand the milk products <strong>of</strong> the animal also, without killing it.
