Theyare as follows :(1) Spiritual training as duty. You should apply yourSamyama (Simultaneity of the three Yogic States of consciousness)to your daily routine. Understand that your duty is not chosenby you, but it is prescribed to you from your higher centre.Your conscious existence receives the impulsion from your highersource which has a Plan for you. In the 18th chapter of theBhagavadgita, you will find the supplementation of this aspectto the Yogic training given by Patanjali. There is a source of allcreation and it is the same to you also since you are part of thiscreation. You will receive your plan from the same source viayour higher source.The creation of the whole universe comes from the creativeactivity, which creates the cosmic egg, the Solar Systems andthe Planetary Systems. Our earth planet and its creative activityare created from the same source. The biological kingdom ofthis earth and the humanity of this earth come from the samesource. Your society, your nationality and your mentality areall created by the same source. It is the same source whichgives impulsion to everyone to do some thing. To you also it istrue. It is the only possible source from which you came intoexistence and you received your mentality and environment.So you are expected to accept the work that is given to you.Accept the vocation that is presented to you. If you try tomake a serious attempt to change according to likes and dislikes
Lesson - 9 143or according to your convenience or inconvenience, it becomespossible temporarily. At the same time you will suffer a lot dueto the convulsion you caused to the poise of your existence.You will suffer from inefficiency and lack of fitness of the vehicleyou have while working out the Plan chosen by you separately.In such a case that particular span of life goes a waste at theend of which you will be placed in the right place, where youwere previously. Duty as Yogic training should be understoodand accepted. It serves as the scientific procedure to cleanyour vehicles and station them properly in the training groundto grow into the awareness of the real self. Nothing is to becomplained against the order of things that comes to you. Youshould be able to distinguish between the natural sequence ofthings and the sequence of your likes and dislikes. You willgain the wisdom to distinguish between them by following theeight-fold path described in the previous lessons.Also remember that the real Yoga-Path should necessarilybe one. The many schools of Yoga cannot prescribe more thanone Yogic path if it were to be scientific. The whole creationthat includes you came down through evolution by followingonly one sequence. Your retracing the Path should also includeonly one sequence, if you are to know the source of yourawareness and get the illumination. If at all you want to establisha new school, you can establish a new centre, a new abode ofactivity but not a new Yoga. Every philosophy that is broughtout of novelty will get atrophied and you have to follow thesame old source. All the different systems and philosophiesexist to you until you get at the one path, the real Path. If youwant to follow the Path of Yoga, you should not have a mentalityto express “This is not my duty”. It is said that there was awasherman who had a dog and a donkey. When there was athief trying to enter the house of the washerman, the dog wasindifferent and it did not bark. The donkey asked “Why don’t
