124 Lessons on <strong>The</strong> <strong>Yoga</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Patanjali</strong>into the flesh to shine through the flesh as the Lord-consciousness.This is the second aspect, which is called Avatar in the IndianScriptures. (3) Our eyes are opened to the contribution <strong>of</strong> Holyones <strong>of</strong> the past, by reading the scriptures. Narrating the incidents<strong>of</strong> their holy life gives us identification which is not possiblethrough teachings and moralizing. Mere narration, simple, lucidand straight, <strong>of</strong> the life-incidents <strong>of</strong> the saints, gives us thedisposition to get identified with the Lord-consciousness. Amongthe main scriptures in India, we have a scripture specially allottedfor this purpose and it is called Bhagavatham. Spending tenminutes with it leads us into ourselves, the soul-light. I am givingout an elaborate commentary to this scripture with all the keysexplained. I am doing it in my regional language and that is themain reason why I could not visit Europe during these five years.Ten volumes have been published hitherto and there are 20more volumes to come out. I hope to render it into English ifpossible though it is somewhat difficult.<strong>The</strong> third item <strong>of</strong> Kriya <strong>Yoga</strong> is to prepare for a totalsurrender to the Lord. How to do it? <strong>The</strong>re are eight steps tobe practised. Three transformations occur in us by followingthese eight steps. (1) <strong>The</strong> elimination <strong>of</strong> all the impurities <strong>of</strong> ourvehicle. (2) Your awareness receives illumination <strong>of</strong> WisdomIllumination takes place in many planes <strong>of</strong> consciousness. Whatwe know as illumination normally is the optic illumination. Similarly,there is the mental illumination; illumination <strong>of</strong> the self etc. (3)THE LIGHT is familiarised. That means the lower vehicles willbe gradually transformed into THE LIGHT. <strong>Patanjali</strong> promisesthese three results to those, who practise the eight steps <strong>of</strong><strong>Yoga</strong>. <strong>The</strong> eight steps are as follows :-(1) <strong>The</strong> process <strong>of</strong> regulation (Yama). When we set upsome instrument to use if it is necessary to know the procedure
