<strong>Energy</strong> imports<br />
<strong>Australia</strong>’s petroleum imports were valued at $34.2 billion <strong>in</strong> 2014–15.<br />
Crude oil was valued at $14.9 billion, while ref<strong>in</strong>ed petroleum products<br />
were valued at $19.3 billion. <strong>Australia</strong> is a net importer of oil products, with<br />
ref<strong>in</strong>ed product imports account<strong>in</strong>g for half of consumption <strong>in</strong> 2013–14.<br />
<strong>Australia</strong> also imports natural gas from the Jo<strong>in</strong>t Petroleum Development<br />
Area <strong>in</strong> the Timor Sea, for liquefaction and export as LNG.<br />
