Data sources The information in Energy in Australia 2015 is from the Office of the Chief Economist in the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, and other sources, listed below. It is based on latest data available at the time of compilation, which can vary between datasets, energy types and industries. In particular, energy consumption statistics tend to lag behind energy production and trade statistics. Australian statistics are generally reported in fiscal years (1 July to 30 June), while international comparisons are generally reported in calendar years.
