was, however, a correlation between<br />

newer technologies and better performance<br />

on relevant KPIs. “For example,<br />

if you’re looking at internal order<br />

cycle time, then RFID helps. If you’re<br />

looking at on-time receipt and putaway,<br />

then a pick-to light system might<br />

have an impact there,” Williams says.<br />

The “DC Measures” study is anything<br />

but static. Research questions<br />

and topics change from year to year<br />

to reflect warehouse professionals’<br />

current concerns. “At the heart of the<br />

research is a conversation between<br />

warehousing professionals and the<br />

researchers. We want to answer questions<br />

that are relevant and provide real<br />

benefits to the industry,” Manrodt says.<br />

a webcast of the DC Measures<br />

Study on January 10, <strong>2019</strong>; WERC will<br />

open the survey in January and those<br />

who take part will get a copy of the final<br />

Karl Manrodt<br />

Dr. Manrodt serves as a Professor of Logistics at Georgia College<br />

& State University, located in Milledgeville, Georgia. He is also<br />

the Director of the Master of Logistics and Supply Chain<br />

Management program, an on-line master’s program<br />

for working professionals. His degrees include a B.A.<br />

in Philosophy and Psychology, Wartburg College,<br />

M.S. in Logistics, Wright State University, and his<br />

Ph.D. at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Manrodt<br />

also had served the profession in several forums. He<br />

served on the Board of Directors for the Council<br />

of Supply Chain Management Professionals<br />

as well as other leadership roles with WERC.<br />
