The tallest building in the United States is also the tallest in the Western<br />
Hemisphere and the sixth-tallest building worldwide. Completed<br />
in 2014, New York’s largest structure was designed by David Childs,<br />
who owns the firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, which is also responsible<br />
for designing the Willis Tower and the Burj Khalifa. The building<br />
is 1,776ft tall, commemorating the year of the signing of the US<br />
Declaration of Independence.<br />
