DEVIL<br />
have you ever felt the devil<br />
like a storm wave<br />
swim right to the threshold<br />
as you and a girl make love<br />
and with the voice of a choked stream<br />
demand help<br />
perhaps to cut<br />
your dream life short<br />
when tulips flower<br />
so very sad<br />
bereft of time<br />
that he might share<br />
something heroic<br />

in stories of unfinished fights<br />

BEAR PAWS<br />

crumbles on your lips<br />
