Maintaining well‐being inside and outside the house during lockdown<br />

Maintaining the well-being of HCPs is crucial during the period of <strong>COVID</strong>-<strong>19</strong> outbreak.<br />

Lockdown is a period and measure used to limit dispersion of coronavirus in society.<br />

Unfortunately, the isolation of people in their homes, the controlled movements from place<br />

to place, the forbiddance of social gatherings and the interruption of leisure activities brought<br />

mental fatigue, obesity due to lack of exercise and conflicts between family members. Inhouse<br />

exercising, reading, walks, rest and healthy diet are the most usual recommendations<br />

of WHO and national public health organizations to maintain well-being during lockdown 9 .<br />

The role of social media and technology in friends and families’ communication<br />

The forbiddance of social gatherings was and continue to be a major problem for all people<br />

during lockdowns, for the reasons mentioned before. Also, HCPs must manage the risk of<br />

transmitting the virus in society and family. So, they usually tend to be self‐isolated, when they<br />

daily treat <strong>COVID</strong>‐<strong>19</strong> patients, or they met an unconfirmed case, to protect relatives and<br />

friends in high risk. The role of social media, communication technologies and Internet is<br />

important, because they help healthcare workers to stay connected with friends and family,<br />

anytime from any place.<br />

Also, social media and communication technologies restored the forbiddance of educational<br />

or training gatherings of radiographers/RTs and all categories of HCPs, assisting the continuity<br />

of lifelong educational process. It is worth mentioning that the pandemic crisis highlighted<br />

and promoted the potentials of the Internet and communication technologies for remote<br />

work and distance learning 10 .<br />

However, the frequent use of communication technologies and social media by young people<br />

and children was a challenge, causing addiction in some cases. Parents must be aware of that<br />

and be able to recognize the signs of addiction, to prevent and protect the physical and mental<br />

health of children.<br />

Remote work and distance education during <strong>COVID</strong>‐<strong>19</strong><br />

During the <strong>COVID</strong>‐<strong>19</strong> outbreak many organizations and employers implemented remote<br />

working from home for these employees, whose physical presence was unnecessary in the<br />

workplace 11 . As the physical presence of healthcare workers is essential for the management<br />
