REGIONAL CLUB REPORTS

The show season got underway at Balmoral Park. Lifting

the Supreme Championship was Ranfurly Impeccable from

David and Jonny Hazelton’s herd, Dungannon. Bridget

Borlase who runs the Sacombe and Perrywood Herds in

Hertfordshire was the judge for the day. She described

Impeccable as a ‘tremendous young bull with style and

exceptional breed character’. The Reserve Champion

was Cleenagh Ivy owned by Wesley Abraham, Fermanagh

and bred by Adrian Richardson. This heifer was Female

Champion in the March sale in Dungannon where Wesley

purchased her. The Reserve Male Champion was Lisglass

Impressor from Leslie and Christopher Weatherup,

Ballyclare. Reserve Female Champion was Whitdrum Lady

Della from Jason Whitcroft, Armagh.

This year, Woodcraft Kitchens (Kilrea) sponsored

the Junior Heifer Derby held at Ballymena show. The

Champion was Jason Whitcroft’s Whitdrum Lady Della.

Standing Reserve was Breaghey Class bred by Andrew

and Zara Clarke from Tynan. Many thanks to our sponsor

BALLYMENA SHOW 16TH JUNE 2018

Ballymena mart was the venue for our May sale. Bulls

reached a ceiling of 3,100 gns for Kenny Veitch of Lisbellaw

who also claimed Reserve Male and Reserve Supreme

Championship with Drumlone Inmate. Judge James

Alexander awarded the Male and Supreme Championship

to Brian Dooher, Donemana with Shacon Invincible which

sold for 2,200 gns. Females peaked at 2,200 gns paid to

Leslie and Christopher Weatherup, Ballyclare for a heifer

out of Dermotstown Delboy. The Female Champion was

Castlemount Angela 2nd and she came under the hammer

at 1,850 gns for Duncan McDowell, Newtownards. In the

commercial section cows and calves peaked at £1,300 twice

for Matthew Cunning, Glarryford. Maiden heifers peaked
