I
have been married to Tony for 52 years!!!!! We have
three lovely daughters and four wonderful grandchildren.
We farmed for twenty years at Tenterden in Kent. I ran
the farm and Tony worked in the City to pay for it. We ran
350 North Country mule sheep using Suffolk Tups. I had
always had a yearning to try some cattle.
It was in July 1989 and I was going in to Ashford Market
just to have a look! As he left for work Tony said, “ don’t
spend too much money but don’t buy rubbish”. I had very
little knowledge of cattle, but I saw what I thought were
beautiful. They were three lovely pale coloured heifers. I
did not know then what a Simmental was but from then
on, I was hooked, and it has cost Tony money ever since!!
We have both thoroughly enjoyed breeding Simmentals
and equally we have had our lives enriched by all those
supporters of the breed we have met and some of whom
have become our very closest friends.
