Requirements for

entering Society Sales

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• All vendors must be members of CheCS approved Health Scheme.

• All entries must be tested/vaccinated for BVD (testing does not apply to accredited herds)

• All vendors must be screening for Johnes and a risk level included on the Herd Health

Declaration

• All bulls must be DNA sire verified.

• All heifers must be DNA sire verified. (The Society currently covers this cost)

• DNA samples must be in process at the absolute latest the day the entries close for the

relevant sale.

• Health Declarations must also be with the office at the very latest the day the entries close.

• To have EBVs printed in the sale catalogue all males must be scanned and have an

authenticated weighing.

• As of October 2016, all heifers need to be isolated for a minimum of seven days, tested for

IBR with a clear result, and vaccinated with an inactivated IBR marker vaccine. Entries from

accredited herds need only be vaccinated.

• All bulls listed as semen tested must have appropriate official certification presented to the

market office along with the animal’s passport. In order to receive Society – funded semen

testing credit, a further copy must be sent to the Society office within the same financial year

as the sale.
